Lewes, DE – December, 24, 2014 – The Delaware Sports Commission is excited to announce it has partnered with a nationally respected corporation and three more highly regarded businesses in Delaware for the 2014 Slam Dunk to the Beach. CDW Technology and Office Solutions has been named the official technology supplier of the three-day basketball event, December 27-29, 2014 at Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes, DE, while Highway One Restaurants, 302Sports and Megee Motors are also joining the team as valued corporate sponsors.
“We are honored to be part of this tournament,” said Alex Pires, president of Highway One Companies. “It is a terrific event and we wish each team and player the very best of luck.” Highway One was established in Delaware in 1989. It has about about 450 full and part time employees in businesses located throughout Sussex County including the Rusty Rudder, Bottle & Cork, Northbeach, Ivy and Jimmies Grilles in Bridgeville, Dewey and Rehoboth.
A national slate of high school teams will participate in the return of the renowned Slam Dunk to the Beach tournament. The field is headlined by three schools– Roselle Catholic High School (Roselle, NJ), Our Savior New American School (Centereach, NY) and Christ The King High School (Middle Village, NY) — who currently occupy spots in the USA Today national rankings. Sixteen teams—representing seven states and the District of Columbia—will be competing in this year’s event. The tournament, long a staple of the national high school basketball calendar, is returning for the first time since 2003. For 13 years Slam Dunk to the Beach hosted some of the nation’s premier players, including LeBron James (’01), Dwight Howard (’03), Kevin Durant (’03), Carmelo Anthony (’00) and J.J. Redick (’01), all now NBA superstars. The new incarnation of the event is sure to provide a showcase for numerous stars of tomorrow.
302Sports will be the official sponsor of the event’s online photo gallery, which will be updated daily at slamdunktothebeach.com. The company has been covering amateur sporting events in the First State for two years and provides information to Delaware sports fans on almost every amateur sporting event in the state.
Megee Motors will provide fans in attendance the chance to win a car during every session of Slam Dunk to the Beach. Located in Georgetown, DE, Megee Motors is Delaware’s headquarters for Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, Jeep and Mopar Accessories. It is a family tradition since 1948.
